For those of you new to the SEND scene, or if you like to read around, here are a few of my favourite news & blogs sites:
Rainbows Are Too Beautiful – http://www.rainbowsaretoobeautiful.com/
Stories About Autism A beautiful, BAPS award winning, blog about one Dad’s experience. “Hi, I’m James and I’m a dad to 2 boys with autism, something I was never prepared for.” http://www.storiesaboutautism.com/
TES SEND for an insight into all things education related. It’s worth registering to get news alerts and to access the TES SEND resources collection which includes lots of teacher-generated resources adapted for SEND learners whatever their age. https://www.tes.com/news/school-news/send
IPSEA Independent Parental Special Education Advice (known as IPSEA) is a registered charity and offers free and independent legally based information, advice and support to help get the right education for children and young people with all kinds of special educational needs (SEN) and disabilities. Great source of information and support around EHCP’s, mediation and Tribunal’s. https://www.ipsea.org.uk
And last but not least….. Send Family Voices. A Parent Carer Forum and the body responsible for a great film on ‘reasonable adjustments’ within schools and the ‘Golden Booklet’ (a short-form guide to when and how to apply for an EHCP). www.sendfamilyvoices.org
